On Saturday, the 14th of July 2018, the people of Ekiti came out en masse to cast their vote.
Weeks before the election, citizens, election observer groups and the international community, feared that the election might be marred by violence. However, in a surprising twist, the election turned out peaceful.
Ekiti is a state in Western Nigeria, indigenes of the state all belong to the Yoruba sub-ethnic group.
